We are excited to announce the launch of our brand new 1-year M.A. program! McMaster's Religious Studies graduate program will now consist of three streams: Major Research Paper (1-year stream), Thesis, and Project (2-year streams). Read below to learn more about our MA program options!

1-Year MA (MRP)

2-Year MA (thesis)

2-Year MA (project)

 

There are no language requirements for the 1-Year MA.

 

 

 

The candidate must demonstrate a reading knowledge of a language other than English which is most useful in the area in which the thesis is written.

Completion of five half courses with at least a B- standing.

 

Completion of six half courses with at least B- standing.

 

Completion of six half courses with at least B- standing.

 

Completion of RELIGST 701 Issues in the Study of Religions.

 

Completion of RELIGST 701 Issues in the Study of Religions.

 

Completion of RELIGST 701 Issues in the Study of Religions.

 

Completion of a Major Research Paper – MRP (between 7,500 and 10,000 words).

 

In consultation with your supervisor, a thesis must be completed.

No oral defence of Major Research Project.                                                 

 

The thesis must be defended in an oral examination.                                        

 

The passing of an oral or written examination on the substance of the project.
