Robert Jones (PhD Candidate, Early Judaism) has received the Dirk Smilde Scholarship. This scholarship is presented by the Qumran Institute at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands to postdocs and PhD candidates in the fields of Hebrew Bible, early Judaism, and Dead Sea Scrolls every two years.
The scholarship is coordinated with the Dirk Smilde Fellowship, which has been presented this year to Dr. George Brooke (University of Manchester), offering the recipient the opportunity to work with a leading researcher in the field.
Robert will spend the months of March, April, and May at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies writing his dissertation, attending a weekly seminar taught by Dr. Brooke, and working closely with Dr. Brooke as well as Drs. Mladen Popović, Steve Mason, and Jacques van Ruiten.
