Biography

Mohamed Soufan is a recent graduate of Kings University College at Western University with an Honours Specialization in Social Justice and Peace Studies and Criminology. During his time at Western, Mohamed was the president of two undergraduate clubs; the World University Service of Canada and Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights. Within these clubs, he helped sponsor international students to study at Western, and educated the student body about Palestinian Human Rights/activism. He was also a part of a number of other initiatives, including running two divestment campaigns on campus, presenting his undergraduate research on the topic of Palestine as a Feminist Issue, and leading and participating in two panels at the Organizing Equality Conference and help create the student coalition that worked in tandem with the conference. Outside of school, Mohamed works part time at a bank and this summer is currently the CFO/communications strategist for a municipal campaign in London. He also volunteers in the community with the Muslim Resource Centre on several of their projects. Mohamed’s research interest are spread between two fields; Palestine and refugee rights, more notably how Palestinians navigate their social, cultural, and political lives between states they live in as a displaced people.
