Sobanski Brenna, (She/Her)
Biography
I have a B.A. in Social Anthropology and History of Science and Technology from the University of King’s College (Halifax, Nova Scotia) and an M.A. in Social Anthropology from Dalhousie University. Outside of academia, my work background is in refugee settlement and refugee law.
My research looks at how people imagine and try to enact collective visions of a better world. Currently, I envision carrying out this research with a community-based non-profit organization. I am interested in what enables people to imagine different ways of relating to others and being in the world, and how these visions, values, and ideals get translated, or do not get translated, into practice. I am interested in the ongoing, daily work and relationships that make alternative relationships and realities possible.
