Biography

Casey Scheibling is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at McMaster University and a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Sociology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Scheibling’s research interests are in the sociological analysis of families, gender, culture, and health, with a particular focus on men and fathers. His doctoral thesis, completed at McMaster University in 2019, was an ethnographic study of a community of “dad bloggers” who use social media to rework cultural discourses about fatherhood and masculinity. His current research, supported by a SSHRC Insight Development Grant, examines the work–family role negotiations and emotional well-being of new fathers in Ontario and Québec. His work can be found in journals such as Men and MasculinitiesJournal of Marriage and Family, Feminist Media Studies, and Symbolic Interaction.
