Pyne Jake

Jake Pyne

School of Social Work

Biography

Jake's doctoral research focuses on this current generation of trans youth who are transitioning young, and asks questions about how their futures have become thinkable in this time and place. Drawing on the literatures of queer temporality, critical disability studies and queer of colour critique, Jake's research queries for whom these new trans futures are thinkable, and for whom they are not. As a community based researcher and activist in Toronto's trans community for the past 16 years, Jake has also worked on a range of projects addressing access to health care, emergency services and family law justice, in addition to building support for gender independent kids and trans youth. Jake’s research is supported by Trudeau and Vanier Scholarships.
