Mylona Dimitra, Zooarchaeologist
Biography
An archaeologist, specialized in zooarchaeology, Dimitra is currently the in-house zoo-archaeologist of INSTAP Study Center for East Crete. She is interested in human-animal relations in all their forms and expressions (economy, foodways, and cult), involved in several research projects in Greece and neighboring countries, working on both terrestrial and marine animal remains from a wide chronological range.
Dimitra recently directed the Greek sector of PERICLES (preserving and sustainably governing cultural heritage and landscapes in European coastal and maritime regions with emphasis on fishing cultural heritage), and alongside her academic productivity, is is active in popularizing zoo-archaeology and topics of her interest through public lecturing, media presence and blogging .
