Biography
Marvin Mercado is a graduate from Lakehead University. He graduated with Honors in Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economics and Political Science. After graduating, Marvin worked at Bain Smith Consulting wherein he oversaw economic development planning and capacity building workshops for remote First Nation communities in Northwestern Ontario. This summer, Marvin participated in two major projects, the first in which saw the development of Thunder Bay’s first Age Friendly Community Wide Action Plan and the second, assisting in the conception and planning of a pilot project that would combine an academic institution with a health care facility for high school students moving from remote communities to Thunder Bay. Marvin’s interests vary greatly but he is especially interested in analyzing the effects of immigration on the economy and the career prospects for those who immigrate to Canada.
