Biography

Shannon Kitchings is studying at Brock University in the Social Justice and Equity MA program. New to the Niagara area, she has worked with marginalized youth in Halton and Toronto for 10 years. Partnering with community centres, social planning councils, and boards of education, she has worked with thousands of youth, supporting development and assisting with transition from social service supports to future independence. Her other research is focused on voice and the ways speaking and listening to testimony about traumatic experiences can transform relationships, especially among marginalized groups. Bringing her skills in arts-based learning and communications to her research, she is passionate about discovering the stories we all have inside us. Shannon is the Research Assistant for the Niagara site of the Partnering for Change project.
