Biography
Panagiotis Karkanas is the Director of M. H. Weiner Laboratory of Archaeological Science, at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens. Geoarchaeologist whose research includes site formation processes, palaeoenvironmental reconstruction, and paleoclimate, with extensive experience in Old World prehistoric archaeology, not least the Pleistocene archaeology of Greece (Klisoura 1, Theopetra), Israel (Qesem Cave) and South Africa (Pinnacle Point). Co-Investigator of the European Research Council funded Palaeoanthropology at the Gates of Europe (PAGE) project. Joined SNAP in 2014.
