Biography

Collette Heeger is a recent graduate from McMaster University, majoring in Health Studies and Gerontology, with a minor in Community Engagement. During her time as an undergraduate student, she was a member of the Health Aging and Society Student Association (HASSA), and volunteered in the Hospital Elder Life Program at Hamilton General, working with senior inpatients at risk of delirium and in need of physical and mental stimulation. Collette enjoyed working with the student community as a Social Science Rep, and a mentor for MELD students while part of McMaster's Art of Leadership course.  Her interests vary but include Global Health and Social Policy. Specifically, she has been passionate about the future of geriatric care and moving towards an aging-friendly society. She also enjoys studying the effects of environmental health on the human condition, and is considering research on the access to primary care in low-income countries affecting global security, economy, and health.
