Biography
I completed my MA in Anthropology at Western University, where I also completed my BA in Anthropology and Geology. During my time at Western, I took courses in Andean archaeology, GIS, geochemistry, geophysics, advanced techniques in archaeology, and anthropological theory, while also completing multiple research projects in Peru. My MA research looked at the use of an integrated remote sensing approach to identifying buried archaeology features. For my doctoral research, I will be using these methods to answer questions regarding urbanization in The Andes. More specifically, I am interested in neighbourhood development; by studying urban settlements at an intermediate level, that is, the neighbourhood or district level, we can identify how larger social formations are integrated into smaller communities while focusing on how individuals within and between communities interacted. I aim to understand how larger social formations are carried out in everyday practices and how people interact within and between neighbourhoods to influence and reinforce these larger social practices through shared actions, beliefs, and norms.
