Biography

Alex Geerts is a recent graduate from McMaster University graduating class of 2015.   She graduated with Honours in Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Geography, and a minor in Archaeology. She enjoys studying global health and environmental issues, specifically the environmental impacts of globalization.  After graduation she spent a year teaching English in South Korea and has spent time travelling and volunteering throughout Southeast Asia and Central America. Her volunteer experiences include teaching English at a school in North Sumatra, and helping out at bar involved with orangutan conservation in Borneo.  During her time abroad, Alex developed a deeper passion for global issues and is eager to begin the MA program. Although Alex’s research interests vary, she hopes to focus her attention on countries in which she has visited, as she has observed the impacts of globalization in these places firsthand.
