Biography

I completed my B.Sc in Anthropology at Lakehead University in 2020. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I became interested in socio-cultural anthropology. I did my undergraduate thesis on the resettlement of Syrian refugees and their representation in Canada.

My Master research focuses on the Syrian crisis and their resettlement in Canada. how the media represents the Syrian refugee and how political dialogues play an important role in how they are represented in Canada. I am most interested in how such representation affects Syrian refugees in Canada. My research will explore the ways in which Canadian citizens view Syrian refugees and how such representation can guide media representation and political hegemony in Canada. I will also examine the ways in which government-funded services operate for Syrian refugees.
