Biography

Dr Doyle is an omnivorous anthropologist with research interests in medicolegal applied anthropology, social and economic determinants of health and disease, ethics, and critical quantitative approaches in anthropology. Trained in field archaeology, hunter-gatherer bioarchaeology, and human biology, her current work is strongly influenced by two years in practice as a Coroner for the Province of British Columbia. She is especially interested in how structural violence is reproduced in law and governance, and its effects on health and well-being in the general population - especially with respect to policy and practices relating to housing, health care, law enforcement, migration, and identification. In the applied sphere, she is engaged with forensic practice, training, and cross-cultural perspectives on death, dying, and care of the dead.
