I recently was awarded an MA in Applied Disability Studies with a specialization in Applied Behaviour Analysis for my research on the intersection of culture and mental health service utilization for newcomers to Canada in 2020. My focus is on the lived experiences of minority communities utilizing healthcare and its impact on within Canada. More recently, I have begun to explore breast cancer within the Black community and the nuances of Black women navigating their health.

 

Research interests: marginalized groups, mental health, beast cancer, risk perception, health-related behaviors, racial stereotypes, race and culture, health equity.
