Biography

Brett Cox is a recent graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University (Brantford) graduating class of 2017. He graduated with Honors in Bachelor of Arts majoring in Human Rights and Human Diversity. He enjoys studying grassroots politics in North America, with a specific interest in anti-imperialist and decolonization activism. During his time at Wilfrid Laurier University he volunteered with Laurier Student’s Public Interest Research Group (LSPIRG). In addition to supporting various social justice initiatives with LSPIRG, he worked with the Fight for $15 and Fairness campaign. During his third year he enrolled in Laurier International’s exchange program, studying for a semester in Limerick, Ireland. He also volunteered with YMCA’s Youth Fusion Program; a program allowing newcomer youth, ages 12 to 17, solidarity in their daily struggles while connecting with mentors. His research interests involve examining struggles for liberation from colonization and its entrenched systemic oppressions within Canada through the theoretical frameworks of anarchism and feminism.
