Biography
I completed my undergraduate at the University of Victoria (Canada) in 2016 with a BA in Honours Anthropology. During my degree I became particularly interested in the archaeology of the Amazon. In 2015, I participated in survey and excavation work at the Claudio Cutião site in the Central Amazon of Brazil.
My Masters research focuses on pottery production in the Central Amazon from ca. 700 – 1000 AD. Recent research on the regional distribution of pottery during this period has suggested that ethnically diverse communities were engaging in extensive sociopolitical relations and exchange networks. Within this context, my project will use fine-grained ceramic analysis techniques to examine how the technological decisions of potters were articulated in relation to their broader social and ecological landscapes.
