Biography
Geoffrey Cameron is an assistant professor (CLA) in the Department of Political Science at McMaster University. He has a BA from Trent University, an MPhil from Oxford University, and a PhD from the University of Toronto, where he was a Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar. Dr. Cameron is a research associate with the Global Migration Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, University of Toronto. He has worked as Director of the Office of Public Affairs for the Bahá’í Community of Canada and as a senior policy advisor with Global Affairs Canada.
Dr. Cameron’s research interests include immigration and refugee policy, the role of religious groups in public policy processes, and international human rights history and practice. His books include Send Them Here: Religion and Refugee Resettlement in North America (MQUP, 2021), Strangers to Neighbours: Refugee Sponsorship in Context, edited with Shauna Labman (MQUP, 2020), Religion and Public Discourse in an Age of Transition: Reflections on Bahá’í Practice and Thought, edited with Benjamin Schewel (WLUP, 2018), and Exceptional People: How Migration Shaped Our World and Will Define Our Future, with Ian Goldin (Princeton, 2011).
