Amaro Alessio
Biography
I received my B.A in Medieval History from the University of Pisa in 2015, and a M.A. (with honours) in Medieval Archaeology from the same University in 2018.
In my Master’s dissertation I studied a human osteoarchaeological assemblage from the Medieval cemetery of Badia Pozzeveri in Tuscany. This work focussed on the reconstruction of the biological profile of a population associated with a medieval abbey.
After my graduation, I spent 6 months as a visiting student in the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies at Aarhus University (Denmark), participating at the activities of the new Moeasgaard Archaeo-Science Laboratory.
My academic training involves bioarchaeology, paleopathology, and stable isotopes analysis.
I have a keen interest in the Italian Middle Age, with a particular focus on how diet and society have influenced each other.
Currently I collaborate with the Division of Paleopathology of the University of Pisa, and I am a staff member of IRLAB (Institute for Research and Learning in Archaeology and Bioarchaeology).
