Biography

Research & Supervisory Interests

My research interests centre primarily around questions related to disability and Social Work.  These include questions addressing quality of life, well-being and health for different groups of people living with disability; the issue of ‘voice’ and marginalized and vulnerable populations – who and what gets heard and, how is this determined; self-advocacy; (self) representation and all types of media; memory, trauma and remembrance; bereavement; and child welfare and maltreatment.  I am also very interested in community-based research and partnerships, particularly participatory and inclusive research methodologies (notably for individuals with disabilities who do not speak), and how arts-informed methodologies can facilitate inclusion.
